History at Collingwood
At Collingwood, we ensure that history provides opportunities for pupils to understand different people’s lives and how this has changed over time. We look at the diversity of societies and relationships between different eras.
In Key Stage 1, pupils will study the past and understand the concept of this. They will look at the similarities and differences of life in different periods.
In Key Stage 2, pupils will continue to look at British, Local and World history using their chronological skills. Pupils will research, question, investigate and study relevant historical information.
This term, Year 1 have focused their learning on a significant historical events, people and places in their locality; with significant emphasis on Amy Johnson.
Year 2 have been learning about an event beyond their living memory; The Great Fire of London.
In Year 3, their learning has been focused around the Roman Empire and it's impact on Britain.
Within Year 4, they have looked at Ancient Greece. This has included Greek life, acheivements and influces on the western world.
Year 5 have been focusing their learning on World War 2 and continuing to develop their chronological skills.
Year 6 have also been focusing their learning on World War 2 to develop a secure knowledge and understanding of British, local and world history.
