Modern British Values
Collingwood Primary School is an inclusive school and we embrace all nationalities and ethnic groups. We follow a Christian calendar and all our pupils are expected to attend church at key points in their school life as part of their education e.g. Harvest Festival and Christmas.
At Collingwood Primary School we are dedicated to promoting values which ensure that our students develop a strong sense of social and moral responsibility.
Our core values form a focus for whole school assemblies, phase assemblies, coaching groups, news letters, praise certificates and philosophy lessons. The core values were developed through consultation with children, families, staff and governors. They are; responsibility, caring, courage and aspiration.
Our Value statement is;
Children at Collingwood are restorative.
Through our actions and strong leadership, we show that we are caring,
that we have courage and that we act responsibly.
We are aspirational and we work hard.
We prepare our children for life in Modern Britain because values such as individual liberty, democracy, the law and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs (or those with none) are embedded within the restorative ethos at Collingwood Primary. These values are developed throughout the taught curriculum and and are actively promoted through the work of the school.
In short we believe that we allow our students to recognise right from wrong, resolve conflicts, understand and explore diversity, develop a moral code, understand others’ beliefs and understand how communities function. These qualities will allow them to participate fully in life in Modern Britain.
We are supporting this vision with other key leaders in the community including Imam Adnaan Patel of Pearson Park Mosque and Father Philip Lamb of The Parish of All Saints Sculcoates and Parish of St Mary's Sculcoates.
