Welcome to Britannia
Hello family, parents and carers!
This term Miss McSherry wil be teaching the class and Mr Stewart will be helping to support the learning! Mr Ward is travelling America coaching football and we will be doing lots of mapwork and computing to explore his travels.
Last term we had a fantastic time learning about The Space Race with a focus on North America, which leads us on to our new topic. Britannia are going to be learning about the World Cup! Within Geography and history, we are going to be studying many of the countries taking part in the World Cup. We are going to be focusing on Russia (another country involved in the Space Race) as it is the host nation for this year's world Cup, we are even going to be learning some Russian!
We are also going to be looking at English history and looking at life in 1966 when England won the World Cup!
We will be learning Spanish every week and the class have a brass lesson every Wednesday morning. This term we are going to be performing a concert to show off our new musical talents!
Miss Ireland will be teaching us science every week! This term we are looking at electricity.
Our author this term is Darren Shan and we have been reading Cirque Du Freak with a special focus on morality and human rights.
In numeracy we need to know all of our times tables and division facts up to 12.
We also need to be secure with all the formal written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and be familiar with fraction, decimals and percentages.
Britannia need PE kit for Wednesday afternoon, this is very important so please remember every week!
I am so excited for the weeks to come and I hope to make some fantastic memories with Britannia during the Summer term.
